NDIS

National Disability Insurance Scheme

What is NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a new way of assisting people with a disability to get the support they need, achieve their human rights, and participate in the social and economic life of the nation. NDIS is the new way of providing individualised support for people with disability, their families and carers.

It is an insurance scheme which recognises that investing in people with disability early improves individual and societal outcomes later in life. The main component of the NDIS is individualised packages of support to eligible people with disability.

Key outcomes for NDIS participants include overall increased independence with greater participation in employment, the economy, society and community life.
